Butterflies

Derek's cousin, Lori, and her son, Walt, documented the journey of a caterpillar to a butterfly.
This is so neat!  Can you believe God made these species?

Watch how the butterfly lets everyone handle it....very cool!
Enjoy this little movie.

Our 7th Anniversary

Seven years ago, today, Derek and I got married!! I took our wedding book to work the other day for some  of the girls to get some ideas for their weddings.  I was told that we just look so young....
like we're so old now!! HA HA HA!

We celebrated our anniversary this past Saturday.  Derek planned our day.  We went downtown Lexington to some cute little shops, then headed to Childress Vineyards, afterwards we went to Concord to our favorite anniversary restaurant: Sticky Fingers.

We enjoyed a tour and a wine tasting.

Look at us now...we pray we get another
7 years with each other.

You're Already Amazing

Our women's book club from church just started this past week.  We are reading a book called You're Already Amazing by Holley Gerth.  I wanted to share this with all the women out there because the introduction gets you thinking....Did you know you don't have to do more, be more or have more to be amazing or perfect?  This is just from the introduction.  We haven't even gotten to chapter 1 and we are already getting some good news.

Some may think they have to have what other's have, be the head of every committee or
be a part of every activity through out the week to prove that they are an amazing and awesome woman.
In fact, this isn't so! You are amazing just the way God made you and you don't have to do more, be more or have more to get his approval or prove to yourself that you are awesome.

You're Already Amazing

These two videos on you tube are great!! In God's heart we are perfect.
These videos really spoke to me, so I'm hoping you will take something from them as well.
Enjoy!

VBS 2013

It was Vacation Bible School this past week at our church.  I assisted in the craft classroom and Derek assisted in   recreation and games.  The theme this year was Sky: All things are possible through god.  Our good friends Jackie and Deana did an awesome job putting VBS together.

Every night started with dinner for the kids, parents and helpers.

Each night started and ended with singing songs, skits and a review of what the kids had learned thus far.

Deanna 30th Birthday

Derek, along with the help from his parents and my parents, put together a surprise 30th birthday party for me with our closest friends and family.  It was so sweet and very much appreciated.  I was very surprised and had no idea this was in the making.  Enjoy the pictures from the party via our Shutterfly page.

We also celebrated on my birthday,  June 30th, with our parents with a cookout, banana pudding, cupcakes and home made chocolate ice cream that I made with the ice cream maker I got for Christmas.

This was the first time I had ever made ice cream on my own.  This is Ben's Chocolate Ice Cream recipe from the Ben and Jerry's Ice Recipe Book.

Once it was dipped out into the bowls it started to get soupy...should have let it sit a little longer...ooppps!

Beach 2012

Since Derek and I used most of our vacation time to go to Ethiopia we only got to go to the beach for a long weekend.  It just so happen that both of our parent were at the beach during the same week so we were all able to spend a little time together.

Usually we go to Sunset Beach but this year we were able to go to Cherry Grove, SC and stay at a condo of a family friend.  It was very different and rather crowded.  It just so happen we were there during biker week.  We are used to a quiet time at the beach but we still had lots of fun!!

My Mom and Dad

We had lots of fun with mom and dad...the weather was amazing.

Derek and I hanging out on the beach....I love the beach!!  I wish we could move there.

I could sit here all day and listen to the ocean and people watch as Derek would say.

After eating dinner at the Seafood Shack at Sunset Beach, NC we went back to the place that Derek's parents were staying for some fun.  We love playing Mexican Domino's together.
It's always a race to get the longest train.
